The funds raised at the 12-Hour Ski Challenge helps Leucan provide many needed services to children with cancer and their families across Quebec such as financial assistance, welcome, emotional assistance and support services, information, hosting and support in playrooms, massage therapy at the hospital and in the regions, socio-recreational activities, support groups, school life and end-of-life and bereavement follow-up services, in addition to its significant financial contribution to clinical research.

Leucan is an association that was created as a result of parents of cancer-stricken children and healthcare professionals getting together to find ways to support families who had to face such an ordeal as the cancer of their child. Since its foundation in 1978, its mission is to enhance the well-being, healing and recovery of children with cancer and ensure support for their families. In the last 15 years, Leucan has witnessed impressive growth and diversification of its services to families. Leucan plays a key role in pediatric oncology, working jointly with collaborators in the field, using a comprehensive approach to care.

Besides its head office in Montreal, Leucan has eight regional offices and more than 8,400 members. A staff of more than 70 employees is supported by nearly 2,000 volunteers. Known for its expertise in certain services such as massage therapy services, Leucan is also recognized as a referral centre for similar institutions outside of Quebec.
