Leucan is proud to welcome Joey Scarpellino as the 2012 spokesperson of the Leucan 12-hour Ski Challenge. 17-year-old Scarpellino plays Thomas in the popular TV series Les Parent. It is with great enthusiasm that Joey agreed to support cancer-stricken youths. “As an avid alpine skier who is also moved by Leucan’s cause, it was only natural for me to take part in this event,” Joey explains. “And that’s why I urge all skiers and snowboarders in the province of Québec to come together for the Leucan 12-hour Ski Challenge – a great way to have fun while supporting cancer-stricken children.”
The 2012 Leucan 12-hour Ski Challenge was launched a few weeks ago. Teams of skiers and snowboarders may register to this annual fundraising event for cancer-stricken children taking place in 6 regions.
Fun for the whole family, this participatory activity will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012, from noon to midnight at Mont Lac-Vert (Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean), Mont-Vidéo (Abitibi-Témiscamingue), and Vallée du Parc (Mauricie-et-Centre-du-Québec), and the following Saturday, March 17 at Ski Bromont (Montérégie-Eastern Townships), Station touristique Stoneham (Québec City), and Ski Chantecler (Laurentides-Lanaudière).
Founded in memory of Edgar Sirhan-Gibson, the Leucan 12-hour Ski Challenge is an annual fundraiser for skiers and snowboarders of all ages. Each team is made of four people and must raise a minimum of $400 in donations. On the day of the event, each team member must go downhill once every hour, for 12 consecutive hours (from noon to midnight).
